Before leaving
- Mark the authorized margin and the permitted side of each fence.
- Agree any suitable dog’s handler and care plan, or a workable alternative.
At the location
- Use short visible segments and recognizable last-seen landmarks.
- Observe food-and-cover connections without supplying a species guess.
Return
- Close the return check-in and collect equipment and waste.
- Recheck people, any dog and temporary markers at the regroup point.
Review
- Choose one missing piece of evidence to check next time.
- Keep the number seen separate from uncertain species identity.
A fictional observation example
Fictional example: two birds are briefly seen, but species is unconfirmed. Keep a count of two and an unknown species as separate fields.
