Before leaving
- Mark the viewing station and terrain folds that block the view.
- Trace usable slopes and the return against the permission map.
At the location
- Separate seen individuals from ground not inspected.
- Note actual visibility and local wind before changing position.
Return
- Close the return check-in and collect equipment and waste.
- Keep retrieval and return within the ground actually checked.
Review
- Choose one missing piece of evidence to check next time.
- Keep sign photographs separate from confirmed individual counts.
A fictional observation example
Fictional example: a track photograph supplies no animal count. Keep that sign record’s count unknown instead of adding a zero-animal sample.
